This topic is extremely important and I felt compelled to write this blog post because someone very close to me was recently hospitalized because a dangerous fad diet. I know that many people want a quick fix with some crazy weight loss diet that will get them back to their ideal weight as quickly as possible. Instant gratification is a common trait that we all share but unfortunately fad dieting is not good for your body!
As a mature adult you know in your heart, that real success…real achievement…and lasting results… require a measure of sacrifice and (at least) some hard work.
The bottom line is this: you will have to engage in a moderate exercise program and have to eat a healthier diet in order to safely, effectively lose weight – and keep it off permanently! If you’re not ready to hear that, if you are still in search of some kind of “miracle” – then I can’t help you.
Because I promise you, based on years of trial and error, years of study and years of real life application…
…there is no “miracle” weight loss program out there.
Red Flags to look for before starting a "Fad diet":
-Claiming to help you lose weight very quickly (more than 1 or 2 pounds per week). Remember, it took time to gain unwanted weight and it will take time to lose it.
-Promising you can lose weight and keep it off without giving up "fatty" foods or exercising on a regular basis. If a diet plan or product sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
-Basing claims on "before and after" photos.
-Offering testimonials from clients or "experts" in weight loss, science, or nutrition. Remember these people are probably being paid to advertise the diet plan or product.
-Drawing simple conclusions from complex medical research.
-Limiting your food choices and not encouraging you about balanced nutrition by eating a variety of foods.
-Requiring you to spend a lot of money on things like seminars, pills, or prepackaged meals in order for their plan to work.
These "diets" are focusing on one element and encourage people to ignore the complete picture of health and proper weight management.
In conclusion, there is regrettably no magical secret key to weight loss making it easy and practically effortless to lose weight.
